Art With Heart February Blog Hop

Hi,

Today I’m excited to bring you a blog hop with some of the awesome ladies in the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team. Today we focus on the kids in our lives, from birthday cards to party ideas.

Sale-a-bration continues and this week we have three new additional items you can earn for free with a $90 order - ask me how!

I have 3 cards to share with you today.  My first card has been created mainly using the Balloon Pop Up Thinlits Dies from the Occasions Catalogue.  This set has so many uses.  I have already used this before to make a shaker card, but this time I focused on a card for a youngish child.

I cut out the large die from the set a few times to get the colours I needed to complete the card.  I used the Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango and Pacific Point cardstock to match the Party Animal Designer Series Paper.  I stamped, watercoloured and fussy cut the little dog and cat from the Little Cuties Stamp Set - also from the Occasions Catalogue.  I couldn't go past the Party Animal Embellishments that serve as their party hats.  A little bling in the way of Enamel dots and this card is just super cute!

My next 2 cards are basically the same theme but I wanted to do a male version and female version.  I also just wanted to play with both the gold and silver glimmer cardstock!  I wanted to make a card that didn't require a lot of products and was really pleased with how these turned out.  I also focused these on kids that are just that little bit older and don't really want their friends to know they still like puppies and kittens all over their cards... (ha ha)

This was the girl version of the card and...

... this was the boy version of the card.

Both were made with a small piece of Designer Paper - the pink one is from the "It's My Party" Designer Paper (sadly retired) and the yellow is from the "Party Animal" Designer Paper.
I used silver and gold glimmer paper to cut a balloon each as well as a small strip for under the whisper white cardstock.  The black is Basic Black.  The pink is Melon Mambo and the yellow is Crushed Curry.  I used gold and silver metallic thread for the balloon strings.
The balloons are punched out using the Balloon Bouquet Punch.
The sentiment is from the Cool Treats Stamp set.
Embellishments are the Enamel Shapes & Rhinestones.
The numbers are die cut using the Large Numbers Framelits and dotted with a white signo pen.
I  hope you have enjoyed my creations.  Love to hear your feedback.  Enjoy the rest of the projects by my colleagues who will no doubt blow your mind with their creativity.

Butterfly Card Number 2

Just to give options, and because I was having so much fun, I made another purple butterfly card!

I embossed the Perfect Plum cardstock with the Fluttering Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Again, I die cut the butterfly from the Butterflies Thinlits.  This time I did it twice.  Once on Silver Foil Cardstock and then with the Silver Glimmer Cardstock.  You can't see the Silver Foil behind this picture, but when you lift up the top wings, it looks spectacular.

I mounted the bottom of the front with a piece of Basic Black Cardstock just for some pop and then covered with a slightly smaller piece of Whisper White Cardstock.  A small strip of Silver Glimmer paper across the middle to bring the card together.

The silver foil butterfly was glued to the card with Fine Tip Glue and only the centre of the Glimmer butterfly was attached using glue dots.  A few Perfect Plum enamel dots and a birthday sentiment from the stamp set Cool Treats (Occasions Catalogue) and the front of this card was finished.  I finished off the inside and the envelope exactly the same as for Card 1.

When I showed my sister the cards she said she wanted them both!!!

Product List
As for Card 1 but added
Paper: Silver Glimmer Paper and Silver Foil Paper
Adhesives: Fine Tip Glue Pen, Glue Dots, Snail.
Other: Perfect Plum Enamel Dots (Regals Collection); Fluttering Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Beautiful Butterfly Card 1

My sister asked me to make her a card for a friend with the specifications that she liked butterflies and purple.  It took me a while to find my creative stride but I had a lot of time playing with thinlits and stamps until I was able to create a couple of cards that I was really happy with.

I picked 2 purples - Wisteria Wonder and Perfect Plum.  I used the Butterflies Thinlits and die cut the smaller beautiful butterfly.  I added some Wink of Stella of course and he is very shiny.  I mounted the whisper white on the Perfect Plum cardstock and added the greeting from the Cool Treats Stamp Set - I just love this greeting it is big, bold and gorgeous.  I used Perfect Plum for the sentiment. I then added some ink splotches from the Perpetual Calendar Stamp Set which has so many great background ideas, using Wisteria Wonder ink.  Finally I just glued down the centre of the butterfly using fast fuse.  I wanted to be able to lift the wings for some dimension.  Finally I added 3 rhinestones on the body and the front of the cards was complete.

Inside I stamped a greeting from the Pretty Kitty Stamp Set "Hope your birthday is just like you... WONDERFUL  in every way" in Perfect Plum Ink and stamped a small butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set in Wisteria Wonder Ink.  Not to be left out, I stamped the small butterfly again on the back of the envelope and a bigger butterfly from the same Stamp Set on the front bottom right.

Gorgeous Dragonfly Dreams Bundle

These Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits are so gorgeous, that it doesn't matter what you do with them, the result will be stunning.  It is hard to pick a favourite from the Occasions Catalogue, they are all super cool, but this one would have to be right near the top!

This card is actually very sparkly, but it is hard to get the shimmer to come up on the camera.

I actually cut out 5 of the large dragonflies to create this card and 3 of the smaller set of dragonflies.  The black is the actual die cut piece, the rest are all the little bits that get poked out.  I arranged them to create a contrasting colour for the dragonfly.  I love the result.  A splash of mint macaron and some sequins, a lovely sentiment from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set (comes in a bundle with the thinlits) and all mounted on a Night of Navy background.  I couldn't resist covering the coloured parts of the dragonflies with Clear Wink of Stella for that super sparkle.

On the inside I stamped the other part of the lovely sentiment and a small dragonfly from the Awesomely Artistic Stamp Set (Annual Catalogue).

Product List
Stamp Set: Dragonfly Dreams and Awesomely Artistic.
Dies: Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.
Paper: Night of Navy, Whisper White, Basic Black, island Indigo, Bermuda Bay, Mint Macaron and Pool Party.
Ink: Mint Macaron & Night of Navy

Gift Card Holder

To go with my nieces gorgeous Monster Shaker card, I decided to make a gift card holder for the gift card we had purchased.  She is at the age where she likes to "shop" and wanted her very own gift card.  Making this was very straightforward and wouldn't be difficult to adapt to different size gift cards.  This one is for a standard gift card, but would easily fit one slightly larger.

I chose the cardstock and the ink colours based on the Designer paper I wanted to use.  As the Designer Paper features Daffodil Delight, and Melon Mambo I gravitated towards these to make sure it all co-ordinated.  That's the great thing about Stampin' Up! products, they all co-ordinate and make getting on with the job so much easier than trying to work out what goes with what!

First you need to choose some cardstock, an A4 sheet is ample, some Designer paper and a small amount of white cardstock.

For the base:  Choose a coloured cardstock of your choice.  I have chosen Daffodil Delight from the Brights Range by Stampin' Up!.  You will             need to cut 3 pieces from an A4 size sheet of cardstock.  The largest is           cut at 7 3/4" x 5".  You then need to score this piece at 2 1/2" and 6"

The strip to hold the gift card closed is cut at 1" x 7 3/4" and scored at 1       5/8" and 5 1/4".

The final piece in this colour is the scalloped circle.  This is cut using the      second size scallop circle in the Stampin' Up! Layering Circles Framelits.      It measures 1 3/4" diameter.

The next step is to cut the Designer Paper to cover the cardstock
- again you need 3 pieces.  I chose to use It's My Party Designer Paper (retired stock).  If your paper has a pattern on it, make
sure you cut it to ensure the pattern will be the right way up
- the width to cut is around 4 3/4".

The first piece is for the back of the gift card and needs to be cut at
4 3/4" x 3 1/4".

The piece for the top flap is cut at 4 3/4" x 2 1/4".

The bottom piece is cut at 4 3/4" x 1 1/2".

The next thing you need to do is cut out from white cardstock a 1 1/2" circle - I used the Stampin' Up! 1 1/2" punch with Whisper White Cardstock.  Also I cut out a piece of 4 3/4" x 2 1/4" Whisper White to attach to the inside with the greeting.  Stamp on these pieces as you like.  I used the Hugs Stamp and the Monster from the same set I used for the card - Yummy In My Tummy, from the Occasions Catalogue.  The To and From are from the Tin of Tags Stamp Set, from the previous Holiday Catalogue that has since retired.

Adhere some tear and tape to the bottom
section of your base cardstock - this is the smallest area.

You only want to stick down the sides as this is where the gift card will slot in.

Then take the strip of card stock that makes the band.  Again on the smallest tab add some tear and tape and join the two ends together.  This will then easily slide over your gift card to keep it together.

Adhere the circle to the scalloped
circle and then attach
it to the band at the join.  This
covers the join and makes
it look really cool.

Adhere the smallest piece of designer paper to the bottom of the inside of the gift card.

Adhere the white greeting piece of cardstock to the top of the inside.

Turn the gift card over and adhere
the designer piece onto the back
as well as the top flap.
Pay attention to the direction of your
pattern to make sure it matches up.

It should now look like this when it is closed.

Insert the gift card, slide the band on and you have made an awesome little pouch to jazz up your gift card!

Yummy In My Tummy Monster Happy Birthday

It is my youngest nieces birthday and I just knew that she would love a shaker card made from the Yummy in my Tummy Stamp Set.

This card was super simple.

First of all I stamped my happy monster and then coloured him with Copic Markers.  I tried water colouring but I couldn't get the depth of colour I was after.  I then fussy cut my monster, which really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.
I cut out his tummy with a small circle framelit and covered it with acetate using the fine tip glue pen.
I used a small amount of foam tape around the circle on the back of the acetate.
I then cut a circle the next size up using Daffodil Delight cardstock.
I placed my monster face down with the foam tape on top and then put in my small sequins and beads.  I then placed the slightly larger circle over the top to seal it.
I stamped my greeting, from the stamp set Big on Birthdays from the Occasions catalogue.  It is bold and beautiful.  I used Archival Black and then instantly heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.  It is amazing that we are able to emboss with all the Classic Stamp Pads - it makes them so versatile and great value for money - think of the opportunities of embossing with all those fantastic colours!!!
I used dimensionals to adhere my monster to the Daffodil Delight cardstock and voila it was finished.  I did stamp a nice big greeting on the inside and also heat embossed that too!

Product List
Stamp Sets - Yummy in My Tummy & Big on Birthdays.
Dies - Layering Circles
Cardstock - Daffodil Delight & Whisper White Thick (base)
Ink - Archival Black
Adhesives - Fine Tip Glue Pen, Foam Adhesive Strips and Stampin' Dimensionals.
Other - copic markers, small blue, yellow, gold, clear and white sequins and beads.
